6X6 Encaustic on Wood
This 6×6 encaustic on wood brings geometry and shoreline atmosphere into a single layered composition. Blocks of saturated yellow and deep marine blue form the structural backbone, intersected by translucent wax veils and transferred textures.
A bold vertical motif anchors the left side, its linked forms reading as architectural, mechanical, or totemic depending on perspective. Opposite it, an irregular chartreuse silhouette rises like a coastal landmass or eroded cliff edge, softening the hard geometry with organic movement.
Layers of molten beeswax suspend printed fragments, scraped marks, and pigment blooms beneath the surface. Areas of opacity shift to translucency as light moves across the piece, revealing submerged details. A darkened base band suggests tide, shadow, or grounding weight beneath the composition.
